Have a family gratitude jar

These days a lot of people do not see the need to be grateful for the things they have around them. Rather than feeling grateful they feel entitled. Kids these days have also started developing a sense of entitlement. Having a family gratitude jar helps in teaching your kids how to be grateful for the things they have. Throughout the month, the kids will write down things they are grateful for and put them in the jar. All the things that have been written can be shared on thanksgiving day.

Play the gratitude game

This family activity is a fun and exciting way to teach your kids about gratitude. You’ll get better results if you play the game on family night, game night, or on thanksgiving day. In the game, different colours represent different things you should be grateful for so when they pick up a stick with a particular colour type, they’ll mention or name what they are grateful for.

Plan a family night

Family nights are great because on those nights, everyone gets to talk about all the things they are grateful for and everyone can share their experiences and also talk about what the year has taught them.

Have a thankful tree

There are two ways to go about this, you can either create one or buy one online. Your kids will get to decorate the tree by adding leaves to the tree. The leaves can be added all month long.

Make gratitude stones 

Gratitude stones are easy to make and they can be made by all age groups. You and your family can create beautiful gratitude stones. Interestingly, gratitude stones can be used as a conversation starter, you can use them to calm strong feelings, and they can also be used as a bedtime ritual. There are a lot of things you can do with the gratitude stones you create – you can even share them with friends and loved ones.

Gratitude and thanksgiving books

Purchase thanksgiving and gratitude children books that can be read to them as bedtime stories. These children books act as a fun way to teach your kids about thanksgiving and gratitude via stories within the book. Asides from thanksgiving, they can also learn important life concepts from the stories within the books.
